Should I have a will?
The short answer is yes!
A will is an extremely important document for every adult to have – no matter your age.
Although many people might not like to talk about death, having an appropriate will drafted by a lawyer can save your family and loved ones considerable burden after your passing.
If you die without a will, there are rules which govern how your assets will be distributed. Although in some cases this might see your assets being distributed in accordance with your wishes, there are many cases where this has led to heartache and stress for those closest to you when assets have been distributed in a manner which you would never have wished for.
Some people put off the task of making a will because they are not entirely sure how they should gift their assets. They might have a complex asset structure, or have a blended family situation, leaving it difficult to know what is “fair”, or even possible when creating a will.
However, you do not need to know the answer to these questions before coming to see a lawyer at OFRM.
In fact, it is more common that when people come to see us, they come with many uncertainties. As lawyers at OFRM, we will meet with you and take the time to gain an understanding of your financial and personal situation then guide you in making the decisions that need to be made to get your will right, reflecting your wishes.
